Asbestos analysis information session Belgium

Asbestos analysis information session – 17 October 2024

Get ready for the new legislation for asbestos research

Belgian legislation regarding asbestos analysis will soon change. We invite you to join our information session on the innovative and cost-effective method of asbestos analysis via desktop electron microscopy (SEM) at our office in Nazareth, near Ghent.

This method has already been successfully implemented in various neighboring countries and is perfectly aligned with the expected changes in legislation. The session will also cover the procedure of sampling and sample preparation via gold coating.

What to expect during this session?

During this informative session, specialists in asbestos analysis, electron microscopy (Thermo Scientific Phenom), and gold coating (Luxor) will be present to share the latest insights and technologies.

You will have the opportunity to attend live demonstrations and ask questions to the experts.

In-depth insights with AsbestoScan 2.0 software

The session will include a comprehensive introduction to Thermo Scientific’s AsbestoScan 2.0 software. This advanced software is specifically developed for the detection and analysis of asbestos fibers on air filters and bulk samples. AsbestoScan 2.0 offers a user-friendly interface for SEM and EDX-analysis, ensuring a consistent and efficient workflow that complies with ISO standards such as 14966.

  • Automated analysis: The analysis of asbestos fibers, as specified in the ISO 14966 standard, is traditionally a lengthy and complex process. With AsbestoMetric Software, up to nine filters can be analyzed automatically, detecting candidate fibers. This significantly reduces manual workload.
  • Accuracy: Manual evaluation of fibers can lead to inaccuracies. AsbestoScan 2.0 uses automated detection, leaving only the final verification of the fiber’s nature to the analyst, with the help of the built-in energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) detector.
